I have a camp building that dont have elec power so i use batteries and an 800 watt duracell inverter. it runs my lap top fine so it seems but i have installed a Hughes Net internet system and it will not run the modem hardly at all. it keeps turning off the system lights and transmit and receive parts of the system. However when its on Generator power it seems to work well. I dont think the modem likes the current from teh inverter. Can you help me find a way to get clean AC power from the batteries or inverter that will run the modem for the hughes net system. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Software is working as expected. I notice if pulse is selected the computer will shut down straight away.
My notes.
Manual shutdown, Hibernation etc. Push desired button for countdown.
Auto Shutdown, No user intervention = instant.
Can the Pulsed mode also have a timed period as in seconds before hibernation etc.
I would find this to be a benefit as most times you just get out of the vehicle and don't want to push a button, but still require a time delay.
Or can you just stop the software from asking to select time period? In manual mode.
Hope this all makes sense.

Ok got it working, it will not work directly with the comport I had to use a usb to serial adaptor it works fine with that. I will start testing it now. If I have any issues I will let you know.

I just purchased the shutdown software. Thanks for the quick reply. I have installed the software but can not find any instructions. Looking at MP3 forum you join pins 4 and 8 and the should start shutdown is this correct? As it does not seem to work for me.

I have a Kmart inverter hooked up now, but without the on/off cable attached, but it still turns on when starting and shuts down on key off. I will use this until I get mine back. No big deal, sometimes you get a lemon... very satisfied with the entire package and will recommend to all my carputer friends!!!

Hi,
I bought the pro version with the tank and battery. After installing about a month ago, the PC suddenly stopped starting and i get a beeping noise. I checked the inverter and it says fault. I reset it, light goes green, then back to fault. I bought another inverter from Kmart and plugged in pc and all works fine. Did inveter take a dump on me. Should be under warranty right?

I am going to RadioShack right now to get a switch... holding it there for 5+ seconds was the trick... it finally clicked on turning the inverter on... then the pc ... then the amp in sequence... i was SOOOOOOO happy... thank you so much for this great product...
Sorry for false update . Here is real update. The PC light does blink slowly... Power light is solid. Purchased from mp3car.com. This means I have a good unit? Would I need to reset configuration settings that I have never touched? I have no problem with this... I presume this happens sometimes where devices somehow come with special settings set?
I have a CarPC EZ 2.5d... I have hooked up everything... found a line that is switched by key and nothing is working. The power light is on. I tried imitating key with a live 12v line and touching it to the acc line... nothing. I have checked all my connections and everything seems to be hooked up right.. the SDC is simply not turning anything on. Also does it matter which wire goes to which part of the power switch.. or does it work either way.. both wires look identical and the manual doesn't say anything about how to wire them. |
