| 0001-26AUG05 | Technical Support | Closed | | Sorry, I was confused on the 5 volt monitor. I thought it was for powering an LCD display monitor, DUH. Now I get the purpose of the Green wires to shut off the inverter. I have had a dead battery 4 times already from leaving the PC in hibernate for weeks at a time and not driving my car. I'm sold.
For the CarPC EZ Power Controller v2.5 (SDC) NEW must you use the green wires for the inverter and the 5v monitor wires? I only want to control the power to my mini-itx pc. I have a Xenarc monitor already wired to my car that runs on 12volts.
Thanks |
| 0001-15SEP05 | Technical Support | Closed | | Thanks for all your help...
I will double check the conections again even though it was working the way it was hooked up when I checked the power at the connector and it was the 5v and the 12v..
The only thing I can think of is maybe the voltage from the pc (5v) or the (12v) from the car is too high..
What are the variance allowed for them.
example:what is the max safe voltage for the (5v)
and the max safe voltage for the (12v)
Because I was going to hook up a volt meter and monitor them and see what the voltage range on them are.
It still confusing to me because as you can look at my emails from me I have had problems ever since when I bought it new from you.But it seemed like it was always doing something different which I don't understand.I always thought electronic equipment usually work or does not work and would not work speraticly which was happening to me.Which makes me believe somothing on my end is not right
does this make sence?
I just don't want to hook it up again without going through all the possibilities.
I am wondering if I should get another wiring harness anyways because maybe there is a loose wire at the connector?..
What do you think I should do and check to make sure everything is correct on my end?
Thanks for all your help again....
Michael
i just checking up to make sure you received it and if you found out what was going on.
Thanks
Michael
It was sent out today Priority mail you should get it in the next few days.
Thanks
Michael
If its ok with you, what I want to do is send back the controller. Then you can check it out and see if the contoller is bad or not. Then if its not the controller I will just buy a new 11-pin harness.I really do not want to remove the harness if it is not bad.(pain to get everything back the way it was).
Just let me know if this ok with you.
Thanks.
Michael
Hi,what I meant was that I disconected the controller ant put it in the house to warm up (thinking the relays was too cold).then brought it back to the car to see if it helped but it did not
The PC LED is not blinking anymore.
I checked the yellow wire at the conector there is power there and the blue wire the power is there when the (acc or car is on)
So do you think it needs to be sent back?
Thanks
Hi,I am still having problems with this.I am trying to reset everything to factory defaults but it will not do any thing.I can hold down the button down for 10,20,30 sec and it still does not do anything. before this happened it was shutting down the pc properly but for no reason when the car was still on.I do not know the status of the leds because it was in the trunk but I do know that the amps were still on.But now the pc will not go on with the controler or can not reset them to defaults.
The day the computer would not come on with the controler it was -10 degrees( I do have the temp disabled)today it is +16 degrees but still can not get it to work. The pc boots up fine without the controller.
I wanted to reset everything to defaults and go through the config to make sure the temp is disabled but it will not let me.
I had the controller warming up in the house but that did not help.
Have any ideas what I could try?
Thanks

hi,latley it has not shut off and reboot as soon as i turn off the ignition like it was doing before but today it started turning off the amps for about 30 sec to a minuite at a time then come back on then back off again for 30 sec to 1 min it kept on doing this over and over.so while i was still driving i fliped my switch that
turns off the computer (shuts off the ign wire going to the psu) had the switch off for a few minutes thinking the psu maybe had a brain fart.fliped the switch on now it will not stay on at all it gets into windows just about finishes loading up windows then it is shut down (properly)then reboots and repeats this process over and over.so when i stoped the car shut off the car then started it back up i was watching the leds and when the computer is starting up. (from the left) the 2nd led turns on and stays on then the 4th led goes on and stays on then the 5 led goes on and stays on.none of the other lights goes on (except the power on led, the first led)2,4,5 never goes off in the whole process of when the computer is being rebooted. any ideas?
Thanks
hi,yesterday it did reboot again the second when I turned off the car.It does fully bootup then shuts down properly after the car is off.I do have the setting for the computer to stay on for 2 minutes after the car is off before it supposed to shut down.I am using a regular inverter with rocker on-off switch.(not digital)nothing else hooked up to the acc line other than the SDC. No other item being powered from the +5v line except the typical pc components..I don't have settings 27-28 I have the version right before that one with the added digital support.I am not exactly sure the status of the leds when it reboots when I turn the ignition off because the PSU is in the trunk and I can not see it when i Shut off the car.any ideas i could check out?
thanks

Hi,The 5v monitor wire did break off the terminal about a week ago. I found that out because the computer kept on rebooting so I did disable it in the settings I know it was disabled because it did boot up fine and before it would not.But now I did hook up the wire back up and enabled it in the settings. It has only been a couple of days but no problems yet. I will let you know if this did not fix it. Thanks

Hi I have the CarPC Pro Power Controller v2.4 lately about 25-50% of the time when I shut off the car the pc shuts down immediately.then when the car is off, it will start up the computer then shut it down again.(does not happen any other time that I know of)can you tell me what could be causing this so I can try to figure it out. thanks |
| 0001-21SEP05 | Technical Support | Closed | | Hi there, I'm interested in buying the EX Car PC Pro shutdown controller. I'm very very interested in the ability to work with an inverter. I have a Vector VEC062 750 inverter that I was planning on using. Will the steps in your installation file for inverters work with my inverter? Thanks alot, I hope to do buisness with you.

| 0001-11OCT05 | Sales | Closed | | Hello,
The link on your site to the documentation (the pdf for installation seem to be broken for example) http://carpc.kyferez.com/Products/documents/pwrctr24b%20Installation%20Manual.pdf
I am looking for a 12V remote startup/shutdown controller. ie push a button on a key fob and the computer starts - auto shuts down in adjustable 30 min if I don't start the car - or if press a second button on the remote the computer shuts down now (engine running or not) – Also I would like it have a automatic low battery shutdown. Note: I am looking to control a computer like device but it does not have the standard mother board connector so this would really just control 12V to the power inverter. (so all the motherboard timing pulse are not needed)
I may be able to use your product and some accessory key fob remote. Or do make or know of a product that would be a closer match?
Also can you email me the above pdf?
Thank you,
David

| 0001-21JUL08 | Sales | Closed | | has release date been set for the new EZ Powere Controller? |
| 0001-30NOV05 | Sales | Closed | | Hi,
still trying to understand the last things before buying. Sorry to disturb you but I already wrongly bought an M1-ATX and an OPUS150W... so this time I want to make sure everything will work :)
- step 7 of intallation manual. What's the use of this molex connector? it will monitor the +5v on my psu? why?
- step 6. How these pins works? will it be simply shorted when need to power up the pc? I'm looking for a way to remotely power up my monitor too. May I use it or it's better to use the one in step 8?
- step 9. I don't understand exactly the use of it? please can you clarify? will it be used to power on/off the ATX PSU like what have done in step 5 for the inverter?
Again thanks for you support
Stefano

Hi!
thanks for your sugegstions! I will start building the PSU for my system soon and for sure with an inverter.
I'd like if possibile to have some information:
- I saw you sell coleman inverters, are they 110v or 220v or maybe jumper selectable?
- will I be able to use a CarPC EZ/Pro Power Controller with any Inverter? what kind of modification is required to accomplish that?
- I see from the specs of the inverter that the input voltage range 11-15v dc. I can understand that I can avoid undervoltage shutdown (at the car engine start) with a tank circuit, but what about overvoltage? I heard that the voltage of the battery of the car raise even to 18v... from your experience is it true? is there a way to avoid an over voltage situiation of the inverter
- Do you have an idea of how much would cost shipment of an inverter and a power controller to Italy? and of just the power controller?
Many thanks
Stefano

Hello
do you have a distributor in Italy or in Europe?
I have also a technical question about Coleman Inverter:
I see that they use modified sine wave. Will it produce unwanted noise in my PC speakers (I plan to use it for a carpc)?
Thanks |
| 0001-14DEC05 | Sales | Closed | | Hi there,
I finally got my CarPC installed. I bought your shutdown controller from you and it workls like a charm. Thank you!
Next on my todo list is to get it to survive a crank, which it does some of the time now. I spent an evening going thru 15 pages over on the mp3car forum only to be less clear than when I started so I was wondering if you can clarify things for me:
I have room for a 2nd battery on my current battery which is very close to the PC (trunk) would I purchase your tank circuit and then hook it up to a locally sourced tank battery to drive my inverter? This seems way more attractive than farting around with a bunch of DIY plans from the forum!

| 0001-14MAR06 | Sales | Closed | | I have a 2001 Monte Carlo and I would like to know what hardware I would need if I wanted to use the OBDII port on my carpc and what features there would be with that, thank you. |
| 0001-29DEC06 | Technical Support | Closed | | I have the tank circuit and hooked it up for the second battery. I worked great for a while and then my PC started having some issue, which lead me to start looking over the system. That is when I discovered that I had hooked up the leads to the second battery to the output terminals of the tank circuit and the leads to the inverter to the second battery input terminals. I wanted to know of the possible damage I might have done to the rectifier if any.
Also, does the tank circuit keep the secondary battery from draining the primary?
Thanks for the help.
